Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you

This has been such an amazing week! I keep loving the south more and more! The humidity is awesome haha. It’s just part of being in the south and I love being able to experience all of it!

We got to go to the Birmingham Temple onThursday and it was the best day ever! We left early in the morning and did a session with President and Sister Hanks, it’s the last one they’ll do here since they leave tomorrow! Sister Griffith and I and the Florence sisters helped with the temple laundry afterwards and it was so cool! There’s so much work that goes on in the temple that we don’t see. We talked to the assistant to the matron for a while and I learned so much! She let us see the bridal room too she was so sweet. The Birmingham temple is tiny and adorable! I love it so much. It’s such a blessing to be able to go as missionaries! After the temple that evening the 4 of us sisters went to Outback because we had gift cards some members gave us. So yeah that was a really good day haha!

On Wednesday we’re going to Tupelo to meet the new mission president!! I’m so excited. I keep wondering what’s been going through his head recently. But we all keep praying for him and we already love him so much!

The members here are so steadfast! I am amazed by them every single day. The ward boundries are huge and there are 3 sets of missionaries here and they take such good care of us and each other!

We’ve had some really good lessons this week and done a lot of finding! It’s been cool because a lot of the people we had been teaching Sister Griffith and her companion found in the past, so I was just coming in wherever they had left off. But this week we found some people and have been teaching them from the beginning and it is the most amazing thing! Seeing them start to recognize the spirit is what I live for!

FUNNIEST THING. The other day we were in a lesson and at the end we had him read Moroni’s promise in Moroni 10:3-5. As he was reading it he replaced every "ye" with "yall." And he didn’t even notice he was doing it. Hahahahah oh my gosh I love the south more than anything. Seriously try reading it and replacing the words you will die. Now Sister Griffith always read scriptures to each other and throw yall in there we love it so much.

We live a couple miles away from the place Helen Keller was born. Who knew she was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama? This weekend was a Helen Keller festival at a big park close to her house. We went and were able to talk to a lot of people! Lots of fun. We have met so many people who are absolutely starving for truth!!

I have some to realize what a blessing it is that our church is worldwide and the same everywhere you go. Around here when people move they have to find a new church home. There are so many churches that have totally different beliefs from each other. It’s really common to see 2 baptist churches right across from each other. They’re both baptist and they both study the bible but they just can’t agree with each other. It’s such a blessing that no matter where you go you can find a church and all the teachings will be the same.

Sorry this is so scattered everywhere idk how to put my thoughts together.

Yall. Fireflies. We love going out in the evenings because everyone is hanging out on their porches so it’s super easy to talk to them. Sometimes I get so distracted bythe lightning bugs when we’re talking to people. There’s so many and they’re just so cool! They’re so easy to catch too so I’ve been having a lot of fun with them haha.

I’ve been reading the war chapters in Alma lately and even though sometimes it seems like there’s not much to gain from them I’ve learned so much. The biggest thing is that if we’re prepared we don’t need to fear! If you show the Lord that you are willing to give your preparation your best, He will make up everything else you need.

I am so excited to keep working, learning, and finding! Being a missionary is the best!

I love yall so much! Have a blessed week!
All my love,
Sister Oscarson
