Transfer news, a funeral, and Sister Clifford growing up

Hey y’all!

Wow can’t believe it’s already p-day again! It’s a little weird this week, p-day is today instead of yesterday so we’re not out on Halloween.

We got our transfer news last night and I’m staying here in Prattville with Sister Clifford!! Couldn’t be happier!! This will make 7.5 months in Prattville, crazy huh? It definitely doesn’t feel like that long. I love it here.

Well here goes with the week!

Tuesday morning we had interviews with President Sainsbury! I love that man so much. The rest of the day we were able to have some really really great lessons with a couple less actives in the ward!

Wednesday we had district meeting (love this district more than anything. We’re getting split up and it’s the worst) and had a great lesson with Lizzie (a woman we met at the well) and it was so cool to see how receptive she was!

Thursday night we had the best lesson with Lee that we’ve ever had! We took Sister Benitez with us and it turned out to be exactly what Lee needed. We’re trying so hard to help her recognize that she already knows this is true. She is definitely getting there!

Friday was our cute ward trunk-or-treat and there was a great turn out!

We had a good weekend and church was wonderful, the spirit was very very strong.

Monday was the day we have been waiting for for so long! Elder Foudy is going home this week and we’re all very sad about it. For weeks we have been planning a surprise funeral for him. It turned out so well! Man I wish you all could have been there! The program and decorations turned out soooo good! The pictures don’t do it justice 🙂

Oh and Sister Clifford and I finished 12 week yesterday (the extra study program to help train new missionaries) so she is a grown up now and I am so proud!!

Love y’all! Have a great week!

Divorcing the Devil

Hey y’all!

This week was filled with so much! Plus it’s starting to feel a little bit like fall and it’s the best!

Tuesday we started out the day by painting a house in Millbrook. Our whole district went and we were able to get a lot done! It’s quite the project because it’s brick and it takes a tooooon of paint. So fun though.

Wednesday afternoon we had planned to contact at the well. (Prattville has some really cool wells that have the BEST water and you can come get as much as you want. People come from all over the place to get it. It’s the best ever place to contact because you can just sit on the benches and talk to people while they fill up their water containers.) Well we got there and the elders were already there doing it. We decided not to overwhelm everyone with 4 missionaries trying to teach them so we went down the road a little ways and decided to knock on a couple doors. The second door we knocked on was this young guy named Matthew and we started talking to him and he said, "Oh! I work with someone who has been talking to y’all and she told me all of this already." Turns out he works with Lee and she has been telling him everything we teach her! Guys she totally knows this is true. So that was really cool. Turns out accidentely planning the same thing as the elders was a good thing.

Thursday we went on an exchange with the Millbrook sisters and we had SO MUCH FUN. We were basically a quad-panionship the whole time haha. We spent the morning painting the house again and then went and did more service at the nursing home and then spent the whole evening together. Besties.

Friday night we went over to Rocio’s! She is the best. She loves introducing us to all her friends. She invited so many people over to meet us. We met people from Spain, Mexico, Poland, and Columbia so that was fun!

After that we went to Nicole’s house to see if she was home. She wasn’t, but her little brother Thomas (who usually hates us and acts super crazy around us) was freaking out becasue he lost his hearing aid. He actually willingly talked to us for the first time and asked us to help him find it because it was somewhere outside. We went out there and it was pitch dark and impossible so we said a prayer with him (after a lot of convincing) and looked for it with him for an hour. We went back the next morning and he got so excited and hugged us and said "your prayer worked!" He found it right after we left!

To explain the subject line: We met a lady at the well yesterday and she called us this morning and talked to us for 45 minutes about her divorce from the devil. She wasn’t calling her ex the devil, she was totally convinced she actually divorced satan. Alabama ❤

Have a blessed week!

A very short one

Hey y’all!

So sorry to disappoint but the last thing I want to do right now is write a weekly and I feel like not much noteworthy happened this week. It’s been a weird day honestly. It was a great week just filled with normal stuff! I love being a missionary!

I will depart with one of my favorite scriptures:

D&C 6:22-23:
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, if you desire a further witness, cast your mind upon the night that you cried unto me in your heart, that you might know concerning the truth of these things.

Did I not speak peace to your mind concerning the matter? What greater witness can you have than from God?"

I promise I’ll send a better one next week!

All my love,
Sister Oscarson
